Sockeye!

Living in Alaska isn't all bad, especially when your clients are set net fishermen and the sockeye are in.

I am kinda jealous i will admit! The fresh fish is what i miss the most. I recently planned on using a very large smallmouth bass (probably grown on Chinook smolts) i collected from the Willamette River in some fish and chips, however, upon investigation i found large amounts of worms in both the stomach and flesh... to say the least it was not consumed. This is just one small difference between our two homes. However, the dinner was not a total waste. I had the privilege of sampling a side of ribs from a sitka blacktail from POW... and it was oh sooo good! Well enjoy the fish and good luck with any flexible rod sampling you might partake in.

Tight lines,

Yeah, I'd steer clear of the worms! I'd imagine any top predator from the lower Willamette (below Eugene/Springfield) would be full of all kinds of nastiness--if not worms, toxic bioaccumulation.

So, you're saying I need to come up in mid-july in order to catch sockeye? What's running in June? We're hoping to make it up that way next June.

June is King salmon and early Sockeye. You should definitely make the trip!
