Wild Rivers

Choosing the right beer for the occasion can be tricky.  But, fear not my friend, Sierra Nevada and Western Rivers Conservancy have teamed up to make your decision just a little bit easier.  For every 12-pack of Pale Ale or seasonal beer sold through September 10, Sierra Nevada is donating a portion of its proceeds to river conservation partners, including the Western Rivers Conservancy.  Sierra Nevada makes a damn fine beer and the Western Rivers Conservancy does damn fine work, so get to it and drink up.  Now, if only Anchorage would recycle glass . . .

Either Anchorage needs to recycle glass or Sierra Nevada needs to get on the canned beer train. It would certainly make life easier in the drift boat with some canned pale ale for sure.

You beat me to it this year, Austin! This is a great campaign. I've never had any trouble supporting Sierra Nevada in the past, and I love that they throw down for Western Rivers Conservancy. Win-win, defined.

Sam - The canned beer train works for me so long as I can still buy them 12 at a time and don't have to pay a premium. $10 a sixer for the good stuff in a can is tough on a guy.

Sanders - Yup, and their seasonals can be tasty too.

Russ - Cheers to that!

It is always great to see organizations displaying strong ethical choices. Sierra Nevada does us all proud. It is also worth a shout out to Ninkasi brewing company in good ol’ Eugene. This is perhaps one of my favorite breweries. Oatis is probably my favorite stout, Tricerahops is always a winner and the Believer is a solid beverage. To add to this, they recently released their Conservation Ale to commemorate the Eugene Watershed Enhancement Board’s 100th anniversary and are donating 100% of this beers profits to the McKenzie River Trust (a great conservation group here in the Willamette Valley).

While golden ales are not a favorite of mine, it has not stopped me from partaking in the goodness. I commend Ninkasi, Sierra Nevada and others that are proactively helping to better the world in which we all recreate and live.

And agreed, if we could get the price of “good” beer in a can to drop it would be perfect. However, I plan to continue my support of these companies. Because hey, being able to support conservation efforts WHILE enjoying good beer is one of the best things out there!

Yep, I will have to pick up a few barley pop tomorrow, you know, to do my part…
